Today I am going to talk about the first period in Section A of Unit 9 Have you ever been to an amusement park? , which is taken from Go for it, Book 4. My presentation consists of six parts: analysis of the teaching material, analysis of the students, teaching methods, guide of studying ways, teaching procedures . I. Analysis of the teaching material I) Teaching aims 1. Knowledge objects: (1)Status and function This unit is aiming at talking about express preferences with the patterns of why do you like? They are. The first period serves as an introduction and a lead-in part. The materials in talking are mostly from the real life and are familiar to students, so they are very interested in it. A big picture is used to attract students attention. And listening and pair work are also used in this period. (2) Key vocabulary: In this lesson, Ss should master the new words : animal, zoo, tiger, elephant, giraffe, koala, panda, lion, beautiful, smart, scary, cute, lazy. At the same time, they should know how to use this sentence “Why do you 1 like ?” ad know how to answer it (3) Structure: Why question, because (4) Target language: Lets see the lions. Why do you like them? Because they are interesting. 2. Ability Objects In this lesson, Ill mainly train the Ss listening and speaking abilities and develop the Ss abilities of communication by learning the useful structures. 3. Moral Objects From this lesson, the Ss should know animals are our friends, we should protect them. And learn how to work with others and help each other, how to express their own ideas during the communication. II)Teaching keys and difficulties According to the teaching aims, I think the focus of this lesson is the new expressions and help the Ss to communicate with each other. The difficulty is to help the Ss make conversations freely using the target language. III)Teaching aids A computer II. Analysis of the students 2 The Ss have learned English for a half year, they can express their thoughts and communicate with each other with English well. And all the Ss will be interested in the topic about their past experience, which is related to their real life. Its helpful for our study of this lesson. III. Teaching methods In this lesson, Ill mainly use the “task-based” teaching method, and it will be used in the whole lesson. I think its helpful to develop the Ss thought. Ill also use “situation communicating” method. It can provide enough listening and speaking situations for Ss. I think good teaching methods are the keys to success. IVGuide of studying ways In order to guide the Ss better, develop the Ss abilities, in this lesson, the Ss will learn how to communicate with others. It will be very helpful for their learning in the future. VTeaching procedures Step 1 Leading in The teacher and the students watch a period of a video and enjoy the English song. Then ask and answer some questions between the teacher and the students. T: How many animals are there in the farm? What are they in Chinese? Do you like them? Why? Ok, today were going to talk about Unit 5 Why do you like pandas? 3 SectionA(1a_1c) T: I will take you to the zoo to know more animals. Step 2 Presentation 1.Presenting some pictures of panda, lion, tiger, elephant, koala ,giraffe I will teach the new words in this way 2. Practice the new words Ask students to read the new words in different ways play a game to practice the words we have learnt. ( whats missing. ) ( 3 ) Match the words with the animals in 1a. then ask students to look at the pictures to say what animals do they like? Why do you like them? They can say it in Chinese. At the same time , I write the sentence on the blackboard : why do you like ?because they are . and appear the new words: smart ,beautiful, lazy, scary (4) Ask students in pairs to practice: why do you like? Because they are Step 3 Listening practice (1b) T: listen to 1b, find the animals you heard in 1b . Then check the answer. Step4. Pair work (1c) Look at these pictures and answer these questions: what animals do 4 you want to see? Why? Then share their conversations. Step5. Exercises 1.看图片写单词,并写出单词和它的复数。 2.看图根据所给单词填空。 Step6. Summary T: Today we met so many animals. Can you say their names? What do you think of them? Do you know more about them? We will learn more about them tomorrow. Step7.Homework 1.Remember the new words we have learnt today. 2. Describe your favorite animal with your classmates, then write a short conversation. 3.用所给词的适当形式填空。 (1).why _ (do) Li Ming like lions.
